New Year's Eve

This was a great day to end the year, enjoying 75 degree temps, sunshine and lots of beach.  We took a long walk through the park, with Gus leading the way most of the time. I also got in some reading time in the sun while watching the waves roll in. To top it off, we had a great view of the full moon rising over the Atlantic.

Wednesday December 30, 2020

The day started with rain showers and temps in the low 60's, but it turned sunny and warm by noon. Gus and I took a long walk on the beach south of the park, where dogs are allowed, along with fisherman enjoying the nice day but not catching much. Very few people are on the beach, even though the temp has risen to 72 with more sun than clouds. I would love it if every day was like today!

On to Gamble Rogers State Park

After a healthy breakfast with Dennis & Sharon, we said our goodbyes and drove to Flagler Beach and Gamble Rogers Memorial State Park  where we lucked into a beach site, site 20 for the next week. The drive here was pretty uneventful and we were happy to see the ocean at the end of the drive.

Here are a few photos looking out at the ocean in front of us and looking back at our site. The temperature reached 68 this afternoon and is expected to drop only to about 60 tonight with another warm day tomorrow.

Hunting Island State Park

On Monday, the 28th, we went out for breakfast at The Plantation in Bluffton where we ate delicious food, then went back to the Anderson house to pick up the dogs. We headed out to Hunting Island State Park, a place none of us had ever been to. The park has beautiful beaches and a very nice campground with it's own beach.  We will have to consider a stay there in the future.   Below are some pics taken on the beach with the dogs.

We topped off the day with dinner at Captain Woody's in Bluffton.  Everyone had a different dish and all of them were delicious.

Visit to see Andersons in Okatie, SC, near Blufton

We left fome Christmas day after spending a fun morning watching our grandsons open gifts, and sharing gifts with one another, while the new granddog played and napped around us.

In the afternoon we drove as far as Dillon where we had a reserved campsite at Dillon with full hookup to help us deal with the 22 degree temperatures overnight. That was much better than staying at Walmart and freezing our ***** off.
On the 26th we drove the rest of the way to Anderson's in Sun City, where we parked the RV in a storage facility that has a few full hookup sites. That enabled us to leave the RV plugged in to keep the refrigerator running. We even left the Jeep. since we stayed with Dennis and Sharon in their new home.
