We installed a new battery in my ebike and today we put that battery to the test riding from the RV Park to Assateague Island and back. 18 miles and 2.5 hours later (including stops) and my ebike battery was down to about 1/4, my tailbone hurt, and we were enthusiastically welcomed home by Gus. We did see some ponies, including several in a Corral in time-out for venturing beyond their territory.
The story began with a 5-week journey in a 1997 RV, from Richmond, Va to Utah and back, July 23 through August 27, 2011. The next step included the sale of that RV and the purchase of a larger, classier RV we call Princess. Now we have changed RVs again. We sold the Princess to a family of 5, and purchased a 2017 Class C, smaller than the Princess but some better features as well as some limitations storage wise. And so our adventures continue.

Day 2 - Exploring Chincoteague Island
Our first outing was a visit to the Chamber of Commerce for information and a good map of the island. We drove to every nook and cranny that we were allowed to go, taking Gus with us for the ride. We saw several ponies at the fire station. These ponies are either injured or sick or need to be fed better. They will eventually be released into the wild again. We also saw a lot of places already closed up for the winter, tried to find a seafood market selling fresh fish without any luck, and checked out the shoreline where the ponies swim to. Gus, being a dog, is not allowed in very many places, even the parks. He will have to stay "home" most of the time but since we were just doing an exploratory drive it was good to have him with us.
Headed to Chincoteague for 5 days.
We are on our way to Chincoteague Island to stay at Sun Outdoor RV Park sor several days. The last time I crossed the Bay Bridge Tunnel was 40+ years ago, when my husband locked his keys in his car while visiting a customer on the Eastern Shore. Back then I packed Steven in the back seat with stuff to keep him entertained (Jocelyn must have been away at camp?), drove over to where he was, unlocked his car and drove home without saying much of anything. Needless to say , I was angry but kept my mouth closed at least mostly! THIS TRIP IS VERY DIFFERENT...NO angry words, at least not yet! After 52 years of marriage that is likely to happen occasionally.
The drive over was without incident, just a lot of road construction going on along the way. We are located about 3 miles south of the center of the island, at the southern tip. Once we settled in we sat back to enjoy a beautiful sunset.
