Visit to Pensacola

We met Mike & Joanne at Joe Patti's Seafood Market to purchase some fish & Shrimp.  From there we rode with them to lunch at Cactus Flower Cafe in Pensacola, where we enjoyed some delicious California Mexican cuisine.

We parted ways back at Joe Patti's but will meet up again in just a few months as we travel to Alaska out of Atlanta. We are so looking forward to that!
When we got back to the campground, I tutored online and then we started packing things up before the next rain comes in. Tomorrow we head north toward I-85 and eventually to Salisbury NC to visit Rod & Lynn before going the rest of the way home.

The Beach

The beach is across the road from the campground. There is a walkway directly across the road, or as campers we have free access to the parking area by the Beach Pavillion. That whole area was rebuilt after Hurricane Michael and it is quite a structure with lots of picnic tables and a large fireplace as well as bath houses. There is also a lodge that looks like a hotel on the beach front of the state park and it has very reasonable rates.

We have enjoyed many days of sunshine and warm temperatures. Today we got our first rain midday and this evening it poured again for a while, but in between all that we still had moments of sunshine and warm temperatures.

Life at Gulf State Park

There is plenty to do at this park. A group plays pickleball several mornings, while a few play actual tennis. There is a swimming pool, but the air and water are a little "cool" right now. There is a boat launch at the middle lake, a nature center, a camp store, and miles of biking and walking trails...something for everyone! There are even walkways over to the beach if you choose to not cross at the light.

Leisure Days at Gulf State Park

We have been exploring the park, especially the area around Lake Shelby. There is a dog park on the lake so dogs can play in the water, which Gus did. There are lots of cabins and cottages and a lot more bike and walking trails. All of this was closed off last year while repairs from Hurricane Michael continued. We will continue to explore the park by bike when I am over this head cold...hopefully very soon.
