This morning, we went on a tour of the Titanic museum, one of only 2 in the country. The other on is in Pigeon Forge, TN. As we "boarded" the ship we were given a boarding pass with the name and a little information about a passenger. Jim's passenger was a 1st class passenger named Ramon Artagaveytia, 71 yrs old, from Argentina. He had survived a shipwreck at the age of 30, so was sure lightning wouldn't strike again for him. He was traveling to New York before heading home to Argentina from visiting relatives in Europe. At the end of our tour we found out that Ramon did not survive this trip.
My boarding pass held the name of a 3rd class passenger named Bridget McDermott age 31 from Northern Ireland. She was traveling with 13 others from her same town and had purchased a new hat for the trip. When the lifeboats were loading she realized she had forgotten her hat in her cabin, and raced to get it. We learned that somehow she had made it to a lifeboat and survived to marry and live out her life in Jersey City, NJ.
The tour took us almost 2 hours to complete and included many interesting stories related by surviving passenger recordings, displays, videos, and tour guides throughout the ship.
This evening we attended the Clay Cooper Show and were thoroughly entertained for almost 3 hours. The show ended with a patriotic salute through songs and the Pledge of Allegience as everyone stood and as veterans and 1st responders were recognized. We hope the other shows we will see are just as good as this one was.
The story began with a 5-week journey in a 1997 RV, from Richmond, Va to Utah and back, July 23 through August 27, 2011. The next step included the sale of that RV and the purchase of a larger, classier RV we call Princess. Now we have changed RVs again. We sold the Princess to a family of 5, and purchased a 2017 Class C, smaller than the Princess but some better features as well as some limitations storage wise. And so our adventures continue.
