Travel Day

After checking in and out at Land Between The Lakes at 10 am this morning, we headed west toward Branson, MO.  Along the way, we crossed the Ohio River and the muddy Mississippi River just north of where they merge.  We traveled through a lot of little towns on a two-lane road for many miles before coming to a place where Route 60 becomes divided highway. There were few if any handy places to stop...no rest areas and few truck stops along the 351 mile trip.  The scenery changed along the way from flat farmland to a hilly countryside which was quite beautiful.  What would have been a 6 hour trip in a car was an 8 hour drive in the RV and included wrong gps directions at the end of the trip. At that point we had to unhook the jeep and get the RV turned around to get out of the dead end and back on the right track, arriving at Musicland Kampground a little after 6 pm, just before the pouring rain, lightning and thunder arrived.  We are settled in enough for the night, enjoyed leftovers for dinner, and a coctail.  I'll give more information about Branson itself tomorrow when fully rested.
