Today is our last full day at Topsail State Park, east of Destin. We have been riding our bikes a good bit, taking walks with Gus, and visiting with Bambi & Leland whom we met in January 2018 at Fort Pickens campground. That was our first trip with Gus. He loved playing with their dog Lucy who just passed away some months ago. They are here at Topsail for 2 months as volunteers. They help clean the cabins and cottages...working about 12 hrs each over 3 days, then off for 3 days. Next year they will be at St Andrews volunteering for 3 months. Maybe we will be lucky enough to grab a site there next January.
Today, Gus had a "spa" appointment for bath, brush, and nail grind. We want him cleaned up for our visit to Mike & Joanne's home, where we will stay for 6 days. The weather is not looking good for Mardi Gras parades this weekend. We'll see.
While Gus was at the groomers Jim and I did a little shopping. I visited Bealls Outlet while Jim went into Walmart. As we headed back to camp for a bit we got the call that Gus was ready for pick-up so we turned around and got him. Headed home again we took the beach road as far as we could, looking at all the beach homes, etc.
We will start packing things up today, and get the rest done in the morning so we can be on the road by 10 am if not sooner. It will probably take about 2 hrs to get to the Fitzpatrick estate.
