The whole group decided to visit the museum South of downtown Chicago yesterday. It is an incredible place. The couples all split up and went our own ways with plans to meet up about 3 pm. Jim and I decided to go all the way up to the top floor and work our way back down through all 3 levels. We ended up spending most of our time on the top floor, learning about science storms, playing with parabolic paths, and simply experiencing science. We finally made it down to the 2nd floor where we got better views of a huge display called the Great Train Story. It included replicas of Chicago and Seattle, along with expanses of farmland, mountains in between, and trains of all kinds everywhere in operation. We continued to wander through several other exhibits including the story of bicycles, racing cars, ships, and the circus, before finally heading down to the parking level to meet up with the other couples (Knab's & Lamberts). Driving back to camp, we first headed toward downtown getting nice glimpses of the city skyline in front of us, and Lake Michigan off to the right. We then enjoyed a potluck dinner and a good game of Mexican Train, although Neil won!
