This gorgeous day, Jim and I spent all day in Mesa Verde National Park. Our day included a self-guided tour of one cliff dwelling, and a ranger led tour of another called Cliff Palace. While waiting for our tour, we ran into Bill & Pat at the Museum and one of the overlooks there. Then it was off to our tour a few miles down the road. We met out tour guide on top of the mesa. To get down to Cliff Palace, we descended a lot of rock steps into the side of the ruins, and at the end climbed back out (100+ feet up) by way of rock steps through a narrow opening between boulders, and then up 4 ladders to the mesa above. It was a little challenging but not as bad as it could have been. Our tour guide, Ranger Dave NightEagle, was excellent and ended the tour by playing a tune on a flute-like instrument.
