Day 38 - Remember 9/11

Paul and Mary left early this morning for the train to Silverton from Durango. It is 3.5 hrs each way plus 2 hrs in Silverton, an old mining town with a lot of charm nestled between the mountains. Jim and I have been there twice so we didn't go. We have Gus to worry about and have never left him cooped up in the RV for that many hours.

Gus still got me up very early this morning to potty. Since I was awake I decided to dress and take an early walk to a bakery about a half mile from our campground.  I couldn't resist buying two large cinnamon buns and 2 large scones. We ate the rolls for breakfast (yum!) and will eat the scones later.  After watching some of the 9/11 remembrances, we took a long walk with Gus through town and the town park. There are a few restaurants, artist galleries,  and even a hard cider place very near the bakery. I especially love the painted murals on the sides of buildings.

This afternoon we drove to Durango. Once there we found a place to park and walked around the area near the train station, visited the train museum, and watched the steam train roll into the station with Paul & Mary on board. From there we walked a few blocks to a restaurant for dinner before driving back to our campground.
