This morning Gus and I took a long walk, over 2 miles, down to the East Beach at Fort Desoto park. There are miles of beach here aside from the waterfront campsites on the other side of this series of islands south of St Petersburg. It was a little chilly, about 55, but blue skies, beautiful scenery, and sunrise made us forget about the chill in the air.
After a hearty breakfast and some housekeeping chores, we left Gus "at home" and took off for a bike ride down to the fort, the fishing pier and the beaches. We rode past the dog Park and some vendors selling ferry tickets to Egmont Key, and out to the fort and pier. We rode the path through the old ruins of a village used when the fort was active and got a good view of the Skyway Bridge. At the end of our ride we cruised through the other areas of the Campground where dogs are not allowed. Isn't that discrimination against dogs and dog owners???
