We got going early this morning because the forecast was for rain to begin by early afternoon. It is an hour drive to Lunenberg from the campground, mostly highway. Arriving there just after 10 AM, we found a great parking spot on the street at the waterfront. The meter needed $1 per hour, so we put in $3.85, using up all my change. To park in one of the lots costs $4 per hour, so the street parking is a bargain. We spent most of our time at the Fisheries Museum, touring two of the retired fishing vessels and talking with two retired fishing captains. The Bluenose II was not in port but visiting Cleveland Ohio at this time...bummer for us. The museum inside has 3 floors of fishing memorabilia and models of many of the more famous fishing boats/ships.
We also enjoyed a seafood lunch there. Jim had fish cakes and I had a seafood wrap, loaded with lobster, crab, shrimp, and scallops. Jim also had a beer sampler of local brews while I enjoyed a glass of wine from a Nova Scotia winery.
As we were leaving town to head back to the RV, the rain began to fall. It is supposed to clear out early tomorrow, and hopefully it will. We are doing some laundry this evening so we will have an empty hamper as we move on to our next stop in Annapolis Royal on the north shore.
