Cabot Trail, Northwest side

The following pics are from our drive around the Cabot Trail today, in the northwest section of Cape Breton. The scenery was breathtaking, more than the pics do justice to.

As we drove across the middle of the island, we saw so many meadows and green hills like this, near Margaree.

Then we finally came to the coast and took in sights all the way up the coast, including fishing villages with lots of lobster boats.

This church caught my eye because of its brick exterior. Most of the churches up here are white.

A lobster boat was out checking traps as we drove by.
Below is the harbor at Cheticamp, one of the biggest towns around, not that it was really big.

Gus needed a walk, but it was hard to find any stopping places for him to pee.  We made due and he seemed happy to be with us.

Below is Fisherman's Cove, which is about a 5 mile hike from the road on a hiking trail. No one fishes there these days.

After this shot at Pleasant Harbor, the road turned inland toward the other side of the waterway, and the clouds kept us from seeing too much for a bit.  Check the next post for more pics.
