South Coastal Trail

Today we headed south on the island, along the eastern coast. Our stops included a fishing village and a national park, including a beach, where a fox crossed our path.
The sand on the beach is red, unlike what we see in the States. We then cut across the island to the west side, partly in search of fresh seafood to purchase. We didnt find it where our GPS said we would, but on our way back to the campground we came upon a roadside seafood market selling scallops and haddock. We purchased a pound of each and enjoyed the haddock for dinner.

One thing we learned this week is that the lobster boats are in the harbor or on dry dock getting maintenance done while lobster fishing is on hiatus until August. We even saw lobster boats in the yards of private homes being worked on.
