Sydney and Northeast Coast of Cape Breton

Marconi is noted for establishing wireless communication

across the Atlantic Ocean, first from this location in Cape Breton.  It was a challenge to find it since there are no signs directing visitors here. Only one other couple was there when we were there and the two college students working for the park service seemed very bored.  

 We also came across this war memorial as we drove along the coast on our way to Sydney. 

In Sydney we visited the Big Fiddl.e, located at the Cruise Ship

Depot. Most of the shops there were closed because no cruise ships were in port yesterday.  The cruise ships arrive 2 or 3 times a week, then .more often in September according to a local resident.

 The statue below is to honor the immigrants who arrived here by boat almost 200 years ago, This part of Cape Breton was inhabited at first by the French. 

While we were in Sydney we stopped at a few stores including a grocery store called Sobey's.
