Day 7- August 11

Today is a much more relaxed day, staying here in Ashland, NE. After a relaxing early morning we drove up to Omaha Downtown after a stop at an RV supply store for parts for our gas water heater. With a 21-22 year old rig there seems to always be something to fix. We then headed to Old Town, where many of the stores are shut down. There are still some shops and restaurants open, but it was a little disappointing.
The riverfront where a beautiful waterfront park once was is now all torn up and under construction. They are putting in a new Children's Museum on the waterfront where there used to be beautiful walkways surrounded by greenery. We stopped at the National Park Service bldg where there were displays of the Lewis & Clark expedition and from there we walked up on the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Missouri River between Nebraska and Iowa. The last time Jim and I were here, the river was quite flooded over much of the area - not today.
This afternoon we all walked the 2 blocks into town, stopping at Raikes Beef to buy some fresh frozen meat. They had Angus beef and Wagu beef. Paul and Mary got a few steaks, and we got some wagu ground beef plus a package of Jerry.

We will all eat leftovers tonight and probably get together to play a game or two.
