Day 3

Today we went to visit Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, about 30 minutes away. We arrived just as they opened, hoping to get on a tour without a reservation. After going through a checkpoint where vaccine cards and temperatures were checked, we were directed to the line for making a tour reservation. There were many others doing the same. Earlier in the week I had tried to book a tour online and was told that all tours for the day were full, so we were hoping that was not really the case. It was our lucky day because there was room for us on the 1:15 tour. This was 10:15, so we had lots of time to kill. For about 30 minutes we walked around the grounds and saw that preparations were in the works for a wedding later in the day and some of the grounds would be closed to visitors shortly. Timing is everything. Then we decided to get in the car, run some errands shopping for misc items, and then grabbing a bite to eat at Applebee's nearby. By the time we finished our lunch it was time to head back to Buffalo Trace for our tour. Mary and I were the only ladies on the tour, and most of the guys were a bachelor party group. The tour itself lasted about an hour and then we had a tasting consisting of a vodka, 3 bourbons, bourbon cream, and a special root beer.
Leaving Buffalo Trace, we headed back to our campground to let Gus out. He had been left in the RV, with AC, for 6 hours, and was extremely happy to see us.
The evening has been a quiet one, dinner on our own, some Simple Green treatment on the radiator, and a little reading.
