The morning started early today after a 7:00 call to the Cummins Service Center in Cross Lanes, WV. We sent Paul & Mary ahead to the next stop, hoping we could catch up before the end of the day.
A mechanic came out to the RV within a few minutes of our arrival to run diagnostics. He couldn't pinpoint the problem so he submitted a work order and was working on the engine within 30 minutes, running more diagnostics. Thankfully, the fuel pumps are both fine. The radiator however is pretty plugged up. The RV is now IN one of the stalls where they will continue to try to fix the issues....to be continued when more is known.
We pulled out of the Cummins service center about 10:15 am, thanks to our mechanic, Travis, and service gal, Jenny. They were incredible! The radiator will need more cleaning as we go but that is very manageable. Paul and Mary are about 90 minutes ahead of us, but we will all end up at Lake Shelby Campground for 2 nights.
Gus is happy to be on the move again to someplace where there is decent grass. Hopefully!
Paul and Mary stopped at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington as we recommended, but they are in the midst of renovation so there wasn't much for them to see sadly. Jim and I visited there several years ago and the museum was open and tours were being given then. So sorry Smiths couldn't get to do all that. They arrived at Lake Shelby Campground about 30 minutes ahead of us. We had never stayed here, but it is a nice little Campground along the water. There are 10 RV sites together and lots of tent sites scattered along the river's edge. For $20 a night, this was a great bargain. We are here for 2 nights, leaving on Sunday.
Once settled, Jim and Paul ran to a Home Depot for some supplies for cleaning the rv radiator. They spent a couple of hours getting very dirty while ridding the radiator of some of its dirt. After cleaning up we enjoyed a simple dinner of grilled chicken wings and legs, corn on the cob, and garden salad, finished off with some sweet cherries. Everyone retired to their own rv for what was left of the evening, and a good night's sleep.
