Day 5

We are now 1085 miles from home with about another 1000 miles west to go. Today our drive of about 275 miles brought us to Smithville, north of Kansas City, where we are staying overnight at Smith Fork Campground.  The campsites are spacious and provide full hookup, meaning electric, water, and sewer. Our original site only had 30 Amp, not enough to cool down the rv in 98 degree temperatures, so we moved to a 50 Amp site...much better!
Paul & Mary took a ride into Kansas City, where Jim was born. He has been to Kansas City many times and has taken me there on at least one occasion, so we were happy to leave that exploration to them.
We crossed the Missouri River 3 times today.

This evening we went out to eat at a little restaurant called Aroma Bistro in Smithville, MO. The food was fabulous. And our waitress was excellent.

When we returned to camp we got together for a couple of games of Querkle before turning in for the night.
