Day 13- Sedona and surrounding area

We are staying at Fort Tuthill AFB Recreation Area, thanks to Mike and his retired military ID. It is a very nice campground with 50 Amp hookup and water when it works. They had to shut off the water overnight because if a broken connection but fixed it first thing in the morning, thankfully.

We enjoyed a hearty breakfast in the RV of biscuits and sausage gravy and scrambled eggs. Then we loaded up the car and drove toward Sedona o

n State Rt 89A, a very scenic drive with lots of curves.

We continued our drive through Sedona where there are shops and restaurants galore and drove through Cottonwood and on to Jerome. Jerome is a quaint historic mining town that sits up against the mountainside. It was great fun to wander the town, enjoying the people and the scenery as well as learning about the history of the town.

They take great pride in their history and use it to draw visitors to the town. We were told that on the weekends the town is filled with bikers. This day we saw few bikers but plenty of visitors like ourselves. Instead to tearing down the old buildings and building modern ones, they have restored most of them to the benefit of the town and visitors alike.

After enjoying lunch as well as a drink at the old saloon we head back through Sedona, stopped to capture some beautiful mountain views, then headed back to camp for dinner in and some quiet time before bed.
