Day 16 - On to Palm Springs

This morning we packed everything up again, stopped for fuel at $5 per gallon, and headed west to Needles where we had breakfast at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant on Route 66. That was our last Route 66 stop on this trip and the best restaurant breakfast Jim has had on the trip thus far. We have to keep the bus driver happy!!!

From there we picked up CA Hwy 95 south through the Mohave desert....it is DRY! The roads are very straight but lots of ups and downs like waves.

When we neared I-10 at Desert Center we saw solar panels stretched on both sides of the highway for what seemed like several miles. From a distance it looked like a lake but as we got close the "lake" turned into solar panels.

Once we got on I-10 we still had over 60 miles to get to Cathedral City outside of Palm Springs. We drove along the edge of Joshua Tree much of the way.

As we got closer to Palm Springs and Cathedral City, the landscape changed again and traffic increased.

We are staying at a Timeshare thanks to Mike & Joanne for the next week. The suites are adjoining with one having a King bed and bath, living room and kitchen/dining area. We have access to a gas grill outside, the pool, a laundry room that is free to use and a parking place for the RV, as well as the garage for the car.
