We enjoyed a not so rushed breakfast this morning in camp before heading out on the day's adventures. With Jim at the wheel we followed Oatman Hwy, part of the original Route 66 to Oatman, AZ. The scenery on the 50 minute drive (about 28 miles) wS incredible but the road was extremely winding as we went uphill first the downhill into Oakman. It is an old mining town where donkeys roam freely in the streets. There are gift shops of every kind, and a few restaurants as well.
Driving into Oakman, this mule came right up to the car looking for food.
Mike was feeding trail mix to the mules. They liked that better than the food that was being sold for feeding the animals.
This mule was blocking our path because we didn't have food for him....Mike had used up the trail mix with the mules in town.
Back in Kingman, we had lunch at Mr D's which was packed with young adults from Italy who spoke fair English. They have been on a bus tour that ends in a week, then they return home to their country. We also visited a museum and the Visitor's Center before heading back to the RV for our last evening on the Route 66 trail.
